Creating A Functional Home

Do you love being in your home? A few years ago, I realized that my home was a little lackluster, which is why I started focusing on making things right by working with a team of construction contractors. I wanted to create an absolutely beautiful home interior, so I met with a team of professionals to talk about my construction options. They were really incredible to work with, and within a few short months, my home looked brand new. I wanted to create a blog all about creating a functional, gorgeous home so that you can adore your indoors space.

Warnings Signs Your Rain Gutters Need To Be Replaced

As a homeowner or business owner, it is in your best interest to know how to tell when your rain gutters need to be replaced. Fortunately, there are a handful of warning signs you can watch for. When you see any of these warnings signs, you need to call a contractor to get some new gutters installed.

Cracks in the Gutters

Cracks in the gutters can be a serious problem. This would lead to the water falling from inside the gutters and leaking into the sides and foundation of the home. The gutters are meant to help the water travel through the system and down and away from the home. The foundation and siding of the home can see multiple problems due to this water. Contact a company like Custom Exteriors for more information about new rain gutters.

Mold or Mildew on the Siding or Foundation

Mold and mildew growing on the siding and in the foundation of the home can cause problems to not only the home's structure, but also to your health. Mold and mildew means there is too much moisture where it should not be. This should be addressed sooner, rather than later.

Sagging Gutters That Pull Away from the Home

When the gutters around the home sag and pull away, this can lead to water not being caught when it is rolling off the rooftop. The gutters should be close to the edge of the roof in order to do the job they are meant to do. If they are sagging, this could also mean that they have too much debris or build up inside them, causing them to sag away from the home.

Rot is Apparent on the Sides of the Home

When rot is found in various parts of the siding, and around the windows and trim of the home, water and other issues might be apparent. The gutters should be the first place that is checked for any inconsistencies, problem areas or sagging. The water shouldn't be running down the sides of the home, causing this water damage to happen.

Rotted Outer Shingles

The shingles on your roof should not be rotting in one area or around the rim of the roof. This could be because of the buildup of rain water inside the gutters themselves. This causes the edges of the shingles to rot from sitting for too long inside the water. Cleaning the downspouts and ensuring that debris is not left inside the gutters can get the water moving again.

Flooding Basement

If there is water in your basement, then considering where this water is coming from is ideal. Generally, water that is falling from the gutters and down to the ground, instead of away from the home, can cause the water to go into the basement. This can cause further damage that can be quite costly to resolve.
